The all-pro player is the pinnacle of performance in the NFL. The top of their position for a full season of play, the question we wanted to answer in this case was not if these players make a difference but how much. It turns out that every all-pro player is worth about half a win. A bit surprising if you consider the role of leadership in football. Many talking heads and football analysts believe in the power of leadership as a driving force of winning football. While that is definitely true, to what extent remains to be quantified.

In the analysis, we look at the overall effect of having an all-pro player on your team as well as stratified between offensive and defensive all-pro players. We use linear regression to quantify the impact in terms of points and on second thought, we should have used logistic regression to quantify a change in odds but we did not. Perhaps we can revisit the topic soon.
